Muzaffarabad: The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that his government would never compromise on the merit saying that regardless of what kind of decision people deliver in 2021 elections the incumbent government will continue to work sincerely and would utilize its all available sources for the betterment of common masses.
The AJK premier made these remarks while addressing an enrolment function of newly elected teachers here on Monday. The function was addressed by Education Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gilani, Ershad Qureshi the Secretary Education and Schools and others, whereas cabinet ministers and key government officials were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion the PM said, “My conscience is clear because whatever promises were made so far have been fulfilled, however, if there is any drawbacks, would try to overcome it next year”.
He said that no body can dare to abolish the NTS system introduced by the incumbent government saying that the people of the region would not allow any one whosoever to do that. He said that after introducing NTS in Education Department, the same system (NTS) was being introduced and enforced in Police and Revenue Departments. He maintained that the government would not compromise on the merit saying that government has been striving since a long time to make prevailing recruitment system free of political influence. He was of the view that the recent reforms in the educational system would be instrumental in imparting quality education besides introducing a transparent system whereby recruitment would be made on the basis of merit.
While administering the oath to newly appointed teachers the PM said that the teachers play an important role in nation building. He said that teachers should render their responsibilities sincerely and honestly.
In a veiled reference to opposition parties who opposed the induction of NTS the PM said that some elements tried to play politics on Sharia Court issue but they failed. “Now Law Commission is being strengthened and a comprehensive judicial policy is being devised to make sure that speedy justice is delivered to the common masses”, he said.
He said there has been two-fold increase in development budget of the region of which a hefty amount has been allocated for the construction of main roads. “About 512 kilometers long roads are being upgraded under this scheme”, Khan said adding that government has also planed to build 3-hundred KM new roads in different areas of the AJK whereas an amount of 4 Crore rupees have been allocated for the construction of Girls Schools with all the basic facilities. He said it has been decided that 16 Lack rupees would be spent in each constituency. He said that development funds would be spent without any discrimination. The AJK PM on the occasion, lambasted the Indian External Affiar’s minister for her diatribe against Pakistan saying that the war crimes committed by Indian troops against Kashmiris stand witness to the fact that India was using terror as a state policy to suppress Kashmiris’ legitimate struggle in Indian occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
