AJK PM Raja Farooq Haider says Pakistan will have to trust on Kashmiri

Islamabad: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider, said that Pakistan will have to trust on Kashmiris as we are the real party of Kashmir dispute, he said Pakistanis may cheat Pakistan but Kashmiris will never do so, we have proved this with our blood that we are more loyal to Pakistan than any other, thousands of sacrifices in Indian controlled Kashmir and Line of control in Azad Kashmir are the true example of our commitment.

It is my constitutional duty to strong the ideological bond between the people of Kashmir and Pakistan, and I am performing my job with best of my abilities. Kashmiris would prefer to die but will never ever deceive Pakistan, AJK PM emphasized.

Referring towards the performance of his government, AJK PM claimed that he has introduced the policy of merit in Azad Kashmir, Inviting the attention of the audience towards the development and reform agenda of the present government, the prime minister said that basic infrastructure of the state had been upgraded. He said an effective financial discipline has been maintained which resulted into the surplus administrative budget.

Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir expressed these views while addressing at the Report Launch Event at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) Tuesday in Islamabad. China-Pakistan Study Centre (CPSC) at ISSI in collaboration with Center for Peace, Development & Reforms (CPDR) organized Launch of a Report titled “CPEC in Azad Jammu & Kashmir: A Gateway to Regional Connectivity & Beyond”. The report was authored by Sabur Ali Sayyed and published by CPDR, the report provides a comprehensive overview of the CPEC projects in AJ&K, including Karot and Kohala hydropower projects, construction of M4 motorway, and a Special economic Zone at Mirpur.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan said on Tuesday the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was not just a road or development project but a strategic alliance. This he observed while speaking as a chief guest on the launching ceremony of report titled: CPEC in Azad Kashmir; produced by Center for Peace, Development under the auspicious of Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad here. The prime minister added that AJK’s inclusion in the CPEC would bring economic revolution in the state. “China is Pakistan’s sincere and time tested friend that always came forward and supported us at every stage,” he maintained.

Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Director General ISSI, in his remarks underlined that economic development of AJK region is a priority for Pakistan despite various challenge. Timely completion of CPEC projects will lead to enhanced connectivity and socio-economic development in AJK.

Mr. Sabur Ali Sayyid, author of the report highlighted key takeaways from his research. He provided overview of the on-going CPEC projects in the AJK region. He recommended that now focus should be on advocacy of CPEC, non-politicisation, and addressing concerns of local communities related to the projects.

Mr. Zulfiqar Abbasi, President CPDr, Dr. Syed Asif Hussain, Additional Chief Secretary Government of AJ&K, and Mr. Hasan Daud Butt, Chief Executive KP Board of Investment & Trade reviewed the report and shared their thoughts.

Earlier, Dr. Talat Shabbir, Director CPSC, in his introductory remarks commended the author for producing a high-quality report that highlights economic potential of AJK and opportunities for connectivity under the CPEC initiative. Ambassador Khalid Mahmood, Chairman Board of Governors ISSI, also reiterated importance of CPEC for socio-economic development of AJK and Pakistan while delivering vote of thanks.
