Al-Qaeda and ISIS has nothing to do with Kashmir Freedom Movement; JRL

Islamabad: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Friday said the ongoing movement of Kashmiris is indigenous and groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS have no role in it. Freedom Movement of Jammu and Kashmir is a political movement and it has to be resolved in its historical perspective.

According to the statement issue to press they said, “Agencies are desperate to malign our movement and, under a well-thought-out plan, devising policies to bring bad name to the freedom struggle in Kashmir,”.

“Groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda are non-existent in J&K and there is no role for these groups within our movement which is local in nature and indigenous in character,” they added.

Resistance Leadership further added that “Terrorism and the freedom movement are poles apart. By linking Kashmir’s movement with some global organizations, they are planning their roguish activities to influence the international community. The peace-loving nations of the world have also acknowledged the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir and we are pursuing a peaceful movement for its resolutions,” the leadership said.

“Al-Qaeda and ISIS like organizations are involved in merciless killings, neither they are fighting against tyrant forces nor they succeeded in realizing Islamic jurisprudence in any part of the world.”

The leadership said that “their activities have proved disadvantageous and detrimental for Muslim Ummah and instead wherever the Muslim communities were fighting for their rights, these organizations instead of helping them resorted to killing the very
suppressed nations.”

Referring to gloomy situations in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries, the leadership said that “these forces irrespective of age and gender carried brutal killings and devastated properties.”

“Kashmir is a disputed territory,” they said. “Authorities couldn’t break the emotional bond of freedom among masses, hence they feel unnerved. We caution people about the deceitful games. The nation should follow every program (of the joint leadership) with persistence and wisdom and exhibit unity,” they said
