Islamabad: Tehreek-e-Kashmir TeK UK organized an International Tele Conference to address the present situation in Kashmir. The conference was addressed by President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan, senior Hurriyat leader and president Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Altaf Ahmad Bhat , MP Afzal Khan, Shadow Minister of Labor party, Lord Qurban Hussain, Lord Nazir Ahmed, Shaista Safi and former Councilor and Deputy Secretary General TeK UK Shakil Khan.
Altaf Ahmad Bhat, senior Hurriyat leader and president Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) addressing the conference from Islamabad urged the Human Rights organizations to play their respective role in Kashmir.
Bhat appealed the United Nations to press India to grant access to international organizations so they can deliver food stuffs and lifesaving medicine to sieged Kashmiris. He said People of Occupied Kashmir are in double lock down since August 5, 2019. All military operations against the political activists must be halted and release Kashmiri leaders immediately.
“Coronavirus has made the world realize what a lockdown is,” JKSM president added.
President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan said that people of Kashmir are ruthlessly being killed by Indian Army in fake encounters. World should take notice of the genocide of Kashmiris and help to release thousands of Kashmiris languishing in different jails in India. Modi government is not taking any notice of the orders issued by the United Nations for the safety of prisoners during the coronavirus pandemic which is unfortunate.
President Khan said and added that Indian military establishment is not using its resources to save the lives of Kashmiris and rising spread of Covid-19 in Kashmir. President Khan further said that India is using black laws to fabricate fake cases to silence Kashmiri journalists.
While during the lockdown with the introduction of new Domicile Law India is trying to change the Muslim-majority region of Kashmir into a minority Muslim state by amending the domicile law, which is a crime under international law.
Shadow Minister Afzal Khan MP said that in occupied Kashmir one doctor is for four thousand people and one ventilator is available for 17 thousand people which shows how medical staff is ill equipped in Kashmir to tackle the Covid-19. Moreover, one Indian soldier is on 10 Kashmiris while medical facilities are unsatisfactory and If Covid-19 spreads fastly in IOJ&K the people will die there like cattle.
We also appeal the UK government to put pressure on India to ensure medical facilities in Kashmir and facilitate the British Kashmiris so they can help their brothers in Indian Occupied area, MP Afzal Khan added.
Lord Qurban said the lock down in Kashmir is not like UK lock down where people live with honor and safety at their homes. “In occupied Kashmir lock down on the name of Covid-19 people are being killed, arrested and beaten regularly by Indian forces which is barbaric and inhuman, “Lord Qurban added.
Lord Qurban said it is time for the world to come forward and play their role to settle the Kashmir dispute as per the wishes of Kashmiris.
Lord Nazir Ahmed said India is following and working on anti-Muslim policies from Delhi to Srinagar. In IOJ&K journalists are harrased and intimidated so imagine how Indians would have been dealing with the common Kashmiris in the Covid-19.
“We request international community to come forward and ensure the food and medicine suuplies in IOJ&K in these hard times of Covid-19,” Lord Ahmed added.
President Tehreek-e-Kashmir TeK UK Raja Fahim Kayani on the occasion said that British Parliamentarians have expressed concern over human rights violations in occupied Kashmir during this double lockdown period and assured that they will speak out against the Indian brutalities.
Shaista Safi a human rights activist from Kashmir said that Covid-19 lock down is being used by Indian establishment to change the demography of Kashmir and silent the media. “People are still waiting to get Covid-19 test kits and testing speed has deliberately been kept slow in IOJ&K than the rest of India,” Safi added.
