Islamabad: An anti-India protest demonstration was held in front of the National Press Club, Islamabad,on Thursday. The protest was organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir peoples Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani led the demonstration.
The Hurriyat leaders on the occasion condemned the illegal and unjustified arrest of 50-year-old, Tariq Ahmad and his daughter, Insha Tariq by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) and continued arrest and house detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists.
They urged the international human rights organisations to put pressure on India to halt the unjust arrests and state terrorism in the occupied territory.
The Hurriyat leaders also denounced the continued military lockdown in the occupied territory, adding that people had been facing severe hardships since 5th August, last year. They said that Indian forces’ personnel barged into the houses and arrest youth besides harassing women and children and damaging their properties.
They said that the Indian government had been trying to forcibly suppress the ongoing liberation movement and change the demography of the territory but would never succeed in its nefarious designs.
The Hurriyat leaders appealed to the world leaders to intervene and help lift lockdown and military occupation by India over Kashmir.
