Islamabad: The newly Appointed Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan Mr. Ole Thonke said that Denmark highly values its relations with Pakistan and I will try my best to enhance already existing trade and economic contacts between Denmark and Pakistan. He expressed these views after officially presenting his credentials to President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr here in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Identifying the areas of cooperation Denmark Envoy Mr. Ole Thonke said my main focus will be on enhancing our trade and economic relations. We opened our commercial section only three years ago. Since then, our team of experts has effectively promoted the market opportunities in Pakistan for Danish companies. He also noted that Denmark has contributed with around USD 130 million in development and humanitarian aid since 2010. Throughout the years, Denmark has worked together with local partners to improve social and economic cohesion in Pakistan. Important values in this context are promotion of humanrights and genderequality, said the new Envoy.
In his first message through Denmark Embassy Face book page Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan said it is a great honor and special day for me that I have started work with a highly talented team at the Embassy in Islamabad. He hoped that we will work continuously to strengthen the relations between Denmark and Pakistan. My job will simply be to identify and explore areas of common interest, added by Denmark Envoy.
Discussing about the continuations of Pakistani community in Denmark ambassador said Denmark is also host to a relative large Pakistani Diaspora, who are benefiting actively to the Danish economy and welfarestate. This provides a solid base for our relations. I fully believe that to enhance the ties between countries, it is essential to build a wide range of relations from the highest level of government and business to the individual citizens based on mutual respect, understanding and open dialogue. I will therefore want to engage as much as possible with the diverse people of Pakistan – especially the youth.
Earlier on Tuesday the newly Ambassadors of Denmark Mr. Ole Thonke, Ambassador of Malawi (Resident in Kuwait) and Lubomir Golian, Ambassador of Slovak Republic (Resident in Iran) separately called on the President Mamnoon Hussain and newly appointed envoys presented their credentials to President at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad.
