Islamabad: India and United States has decided to target jointly Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder and jamat ud Dawa head Hafiz Saeed’s family with the foreign ministry preparing a proposal to bring UN sanctions against Hafiz Saeed’s son, Talha Saeed, his brother in law Abdur Rehman Makki, in charge Jamat ud Dawa (JuD) political and Foreign Affairs and Hafiz Abdur Rauf, chairman JuD Relief Wing Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF).
According to Economic Times (ET) Sources in the Indain government told that this will be a “collaborative” US-India effort to designate the three individuals Talha Saeed, Hafiz Abdul Rouf and Hafiz Abdrehman Makki as international terrorists under the UN Security Council Resolution 1267 of the Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee. India’s earlier effort to bring such UN sanctions against Hizbul Mujahedeen chief Syed Salahuddin was blocked by China.
Hafiz Abdrehman Makki
Hafiz Abdrehman Makki a highly educated man is considered one of the moderate and broad minded face of JuD. Having an intellectual back ground he is fully award about the Domestic and International Islamic Movements across the world. Hafiz Abdrehman Makki and not the real brother of Hafiz Saeed rather he is his first cousin and brother in law of JuD head. At present Hafiz Abdrehman Makki enjoys the portfolio of Jamat ud Dawa political and Foreign Affairs. Alike Talha Saeed Makki was also not been chosen target by Indians and united states. US Department of Treasury designated Hafiz Abdrehman Makki as global terrorist in November 2010 blaming he played a role in Mumbai Attacks in 2008. The United States Department of the Treasury, at the behest of India, has also designated Makki as a Specially Designated Terriost. It has announced a reward of $2 million through its Rewards for Justice Program for information leading to the location of Makki. Makki is alleged to be in proximity to Taliban’s supreme commander Late Mullah Muhmmad Omar and Al-Qaeda’s Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Hafiz Abdul Rouf
Hafiz Abdur Rauf is son in law of Hafiz Abdrehman Makki and at present he is the chairman of jamat ud Dawa Relief Wing Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF) which is serving flood affected people across the country with its full potential. Hafzi Abdel Rauf is the founder in charge of then Lashkar Taiba relief wing Idara Khidmat-e-Khalq (IKK) who got the international attention because of his work during the October 2005 earthquake in Pakistan controlled Kashmir. Despite working along with Idara Khidmat-e-Khalq (IKK) in earthquake areas of Kashmir, United States State Department included the JuD and Idara Khidmat-e-Khalq (IKK) into the specially designated list of terrorist organisations in April 2006 blaming both pose a threat to the United States. Jamat ud Dawa changed the name of Relief Wing as Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation but United states again struck and declared the Hafiz abdel Rauf as Specially Designated Global Terrorist and Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation into Foreign Terrorist Organizations list in November 2010.
Talha Saeed the lone son ofjamat ud Dawa head Hafiz Saeed was already targeted by US Department of Treasury in August 2012 and included the name of Talha Saeed in the list Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO). US Department of Treasury blamed that Talha Saed headed the group’s teachers department, using this position to acquire facilities on behalf of lashkar Taiba (LeT). But sanctions did not impact much because Talha Saeed still works as the Head of Teachers department of jamat ud Dawa(JuD).
It is now confirmed that USA and India working jointly according to the joint statement which was released last year in September after the meeting of US president Barak Hussain Obama and Indian prime minister Narendra Modi. According to the joint statement,
“both leaders reaffirmed their deep concern over the continued threat posed by terrorism, most recently highlighted by the dangers presented by the ISIL, and underlined the need for continued comprehensive global efforts to combat and defeat terrorism. The leaders stressed the need for joint and concerted efforts, including the dismantling of safe havens for terrorist and criminal networks, to disrupt all financial and tactical support for networks such as Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, the D-Company, and the Haqqanis. They reiterated their call for Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the November 2008 terrorist attack in Mumbai to justice”.
While addressing the US Institute of Peace (USIP) in Washington yesterday, Dan Feldman, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan clearly told the audience that Pakistan must take “forceful actions” against the dreaded Haqqani network led by Siraj din Haqqani and the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) headed by Hafiz Mohmmad Saeed in a manner similar to the way they campaigned against the Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
“Just as they have vigorously pursued the Pakistani Taliban, they must take equally forceful actions against groups like the Haqqani network, which pose serious threats to American (and Afghan) lives and resources, and Lashkar-e-Taiba, which has the potential to destabilise the region,” Dan Feldman, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, added.
