Indian High Commissioner Hosts Reception in Islamabad

Islamabad: The newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Gautam Bambawale hosted a reception to celebrate the 67th Republic Day of India at local hotel in Islamabad on Tuesday. The event kicked off with national anthem of the two countries as scores of politicians, parliamentarians, diplomats and people from different walks of life attended the reception. The newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Gautam Bambawale did not speak on the occasion because he still has to present his credential to President Mamnoon Hussain in couple of days.

Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Mian Riaz Hussain was the chief guest of the event while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, Leader of the opposition in Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Haji Adeel of Awami National Party (ANP) and Rehan Hashmi of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Chaudry Shujat Hussain head of Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Chairman cricket Board sheryar khan were among the participants.

Earlier Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday greeted their Indian counterparts on India’s 67th Republic Day, wishing the country “stability” and “prosperity”. “President and PM of Pakistan greeted Indian counterparts (President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi) on India’s 67th Republic Day, wishing India stability and prosperity,” a Pakistani government source said.
