Islamabad: According to a high level source in foreign ministry Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli met with the Pakistani Minister of States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch on the sidelines of a UN meeting in Geneva on Tuesday. Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said increased cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad against terrorism and terrorist groups is a necessity because we both are the victims of terrorists.
On the occasions Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli raised the issue of Iranian sunni rebel group Jaish ul Adl and its activities which Iran says jaish ul Adl operates from the border areas of Pakistan. He underscored the necessity for enhancement of cooperation between Iran and Pakistan through implementing security agreements and serious fight against outlawed and terrorist groups.
On the issue of drugs and smugglings Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said both countries’ borders should be controlled more seriously to prevent trafficking of the drugs produced in Afghanistan via Pakistan to Iran, border crossing by illegal Afghan immigrants through Pakistan to Iran and smuggling of goods and fuel illegally is a big challenge for Pakistan and Iran.
Abdul Qadir Baloch Pakistani Minister of States and Frontier Regions announced his country’s full cooperation to strengthen control over the common borders and fight against drug and human trafficking. On the issue of jaish Al Adal Abdul Qadir Baloch told the Iranian Minister that we are also victim of terrorism and we will fully cooperate with Iran to address the issue of jaish al Adal with sincerity and honesty.
High-ranking Iranian and Pakistani border officials regularly meet with each other to discuss the security situation on the Pakistan and Iran borders and Iran wanted to enhance these meetings and relations to tackle the threat of jaish ul adal a Sunni Muslim rebel group who complains discrimination by the Shia Iranian state in Sistan-Baluchistan province of iran . on April 8,2015 eight Iranian border security guards who were patrolling inside Iranian border area of Negur district were shot dead by Jaish-ul-Adl. Then Iranian blames that jaish ul adal militants came from across the border area of Gwadar and Kech districts of Balochistan.
After the killing of Iranian guards Pakistan and Iranian security official met and discussed the situation, meeting was held between Colonel Javad Rafiyee of Pakistan and Colonel Abdolhamid Abrou of Iran border area of Negur district of Iran’s Sistan and Balouchestan province in April.
it is reminded Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during his last visit of Pakistan in august raised the issue of lax of security along Iran-Pakistan borders in meeting with Pakistani Army Chief General Raheel Sharif in Islamabad and then Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, underlined the need for increasing Iran-Pakistan cooperation to boost the security along the two countries’ borders.
