Islamabad: Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost hosted the reception to celebrate 37th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran at a local Hotel in Islamabad. Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid was the chief guest of the event while scores of politicians, parliamentarians, diplomats, representatives of religious organizations took parted in the ceremony.
On the occasion Mehdi Honardoust Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad highlighted the surge in political, cultural, social, and scientific successes of Iran after the revolution. He told about the Iran’s nuclear agreement with the United States and world powers and its impact on the future Iran.
According to IRNA NEWS in his presidential address Pakistan’s minister for information, broadcasting and national heritage said his country values relations with Iran and considers it a close friend and a neighbor and both were enjoying wide ranging bilateral cordial relations.
He also disclosed that two new border crossing points between the two neighboring countries would be opened soon. This initiative would enhance bilateral trade, tourism and people to people contacts, he added.
The mutual sentiments of friendship between the two neighboring Muslim countries were based on the solid foundation of historical ties spanning several centuries by cooperation in various fields and exchange of visits by their leaders and senior officials, the minister said.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a peaceful neighborhood has been provided necessary footing by frequent high level visits between the two brotherly countries, he added.
Regarding bilateral trade and economic ties between Pakistan and Iran, the minister said that there was immense scope for enhancing bilateral economic relations and hoped to achieve the five billion US dollars mark set by the leadership of both the countries during visit of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Tehran in May 2014.
