Islamabad: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement (JKFM), Muhammad Sharif Sartaj while paying tribute to ‘Martyrs of Jammu’ termed it a sad chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir aimed to wipe out the muslims of Jammu in the state.
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and world over observed Jammu Martyrs’ Day on Monday to reaffirm the resolve to continue the liberation struggle to its logical conclusion for attaining the right to self determination.
Chairman JKFM made these ramarks while addressing a function to pay homage to Jammu martyrs and said that this massacre was orchistared to wipe out the muslims from the state to turn the muslim majority state into minority one, adding that fascists and communal forces backstabbed the innocents and even grabbed their properties and belongings.
These were the fateful days of November1947 when 0.3 million Kashmiris were killed by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian army and Hindu extremists in a planned way while forcing the muslims of Jummu to migrate to Pakistan.
Kashmir was a political dispute and should be resolved politically keeping in view the aspirations of the people of Jammu and kashmir.
On the occasion, a resolution was also passed that Kashmir was an internationally recognized dispute and the people of Kashmir had been guaranteed the right to self-determination through several resolutions of the United Nations.
It also urged the international community to help stop massive human rights violations by forces on the innocent people of Kashmir, adding that India should be asked to settle the dispute according to the will of Kashmiri people.
Meanwhile an another functions was organized in Sialkot by JKFM to pay homage to Jammu Martyrs with the Convenor APHC Pakistan Chapter Gh. Muhammad Safi in chair, KMS reported.
Ghulam Mohammad Safi addressing the function said that the people of Kashmir had given unprecedented sacrifices for Kashmir cause which would not go wast adding that people of Kashmir will not accept anything less than right to self-determination. He said that the liberation movement would continue till taking it to its logical conclusion.
Prominent Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League, JKPFL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chaudhry Muhammad Ishaq, Dr Zahid Ghani Dar and others also spoke on the occasion.
A resolution was also passed on the occasion which urged the international community to help stop massive human rights violations by forces on the innocent people of Kashmir. It said that the lingering Kashmir dispute should be settled in accordance with the will of Kashmiri people.
The resolution also reiterated the pledge to continue liberation movement till taking it to its logical conclusion.
