Islamabad: The joint separatist leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have expressed serious concern over the plight of hundreds of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various Indian jails in and outside Kashmir.
According to the statement issued to press, the leaders while condemning the ill -treatment of Tihar Jail authorities with Hurriyat leaders have said, the leaders detained in Delhi’s notorious Tihar jail including Shabir Ahmed Shah, Altaf Fantoosh, Shahid-ul-Islam, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, MehrajudinKalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar and others, are being deprived of even the basic facilities including access to medical aid.
The detained leader are denied proper food, bedding and other basic facilities and are rarely allowed to move out of their cells into open space in the jail, adding that it is the complete violation of jail manual, the statement said.
These incarcerated leaders are not criminals but representatives of the true political aspirations of the people of Kashmir who are being punished for pleading the people’s cause. Those claiming to be the champions of democracy are violating the basic norms of humanity by ill-treating these leaders, the leaders said.
