Kashmir’s fruit and handicrafts business suffered $2billion dollars loss: Altaf Ahmad Bhat

London: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) and senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Altaf Ahmad Bhat said that Kashmir’s fruit and handicrafts industries suffered more that $2 billion US dollars loss during last 77 days while more than five lac people have lost their private jobs. “World must know that how India spreads lies on the name of Kashmir that Article 370 was abrogated for the socio-economic development of the occupied Kashmir. Altaf Bhat said fact is that Kashmiris have rejected this decision while shutting their business centers and preferred to remain inside their homes to send an open message to the world that fraud Indian democracy snatched their statehood on August 05.

Altaf Ahmad Bhat was addressing a Kashmir Conference organized by the Kashmiri and Pakistani community living in Reading area of South London. The event was addressed besides UK MPs Matt Rodda, Dr Phillips Lee, elected representatives of the local council and important Kashmiri and Pakistani leaders, by Member of AJK Legislative Assembly Abdur Rashid Turabi, President Tehrik-e-Kashmir UK Faheem Kayani and other speakers.

Sardar Masood Khan rejected that Kashmir was a bilateral dispute between Pakistan and India, and said that under the UN resolution, Kashmiri people, Pakistan, and India are the three parties to this dispute, and the final decision for the solution of this issue is to be taken by the Kashmiri people themselves.

“Kashmir is an international issue still existing on the UN agenda as an unresolved issue,” he added. The AJK president said that the people of occupied Kashmir through their unprecedented sacrifices, Pakistan through its principled stand, and Azad Kashmir as the base camp of liberation struggle, had kept this issue alive for the last seven decades, while Pakistan had to face at least three wars for its support to the Kashmiri people.

Sardar Masood Khan urged the Pakistani and Kashmiri expatriates to utilize their energies to counter and foil India’s aggression and the conspiracy to turn Kashmir into its colony. “India has imposed a war on Pakistan which we are to resist with courage and valor,” The AJK President said adding that we must rise up against Hindutva which poses a serious danger to not only the Kashmiri peoples but all Muslims of South Asia and minorities including Christian living in India.

Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Abdur Rashid Turabi said that India has arrested all leadership in IOJK&L that shows how New Delhi government’s writ exists in the disputed area and how they enjoy the mass support in the streets of occupied area.

“Kashmiris are fighting as per the UN resolutions and world community should take the notice of human rights abuses and come with a final will for the permanent settlement of Kashmir dispute,” Turabi added.

Matt Rodda MP said that it is unfortunate that people of Kashmir are under continuous curfew since last 77 days saying he will continue to raise the voice for the voiceless people of Kashmir. “In this era of technology mobile phone and internet is need of the hour and I was shocked to learn that nine million people in IOJK&L have no cell phone and internet facility that was shut down by the Indian government on August 5 following the abrogation of special status of Kashmir from the Indian constitution,” MP Rodda added. The MPs also supported the Kashmiris right of self-determination.

On the occasion President AJK Sardar Masood Khan thanked the MPs for supporting Kashmir cause and once again appealed the world community to come forward and save South Asia’s peace that has been put at stake by Indian government while caging the nine million innocent people in IOJK&L.

President Khan said that India is hoodwinking world on the IOJK&L situation. “ If there is a normalcy then why schools and colleges are closed saying who had shut the services of mobile phones and internet  in the region. This is the biggest lie of the century spoken by India that IOJK&L is normal,” President Khan added.

Dr Phillips Lee MP addressing on the occasion said that world has to listen now the Kashmiris who want right of self-determination and united Nations UN ought to implement their resolutions to settle this vexed issue once for all.

President Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) UK Raja Fahim Kayani said that Kashmiris voices are now echoed in the every city and village of UK saying UK should use its all available channels to put pressure on Indian government to lift the 77 days continuous curfew that has crippled the lives of 9 million people who are now facing utility and medicine shortages while children have no access to milk.

Patients are dying as there is no medicine in the hospitals. “ Indian government led by Modi  is committing war crimes against humanity in IOJK&L and UK must take the notice of inhuman acts of Indian military establishment which is behind the sufferings of innocent Kashmiris. It is Indian army that violates continuously ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control (LoC) while targeting the civilians in AJK side,” President TeK Kayani added.

The others who spoke on the occasion for the Kashmiris struggle were Mohiudin Dar, Raja Shakel , Mian M Saleem, Vice President  Liberal Democrats  Councillor Tahir Maher ,  Conservative Councillor Abdul Loyes  and Wokingham Borough Council Chadhry  Manzoor Hussain . All the speakers in one voice condemned the rising human rights violations in IOJK&L, civilian killings on LoC and urged the world powers to send the fact finding missions to IOJK&L to assess the ground realty.

The participants of the conference unanimously condemned the shelling on civilian population by Indian Army from across the Line of Control in different sectors of Azad Kashmir.

He said that India had imposed an undeclared war on the liberated territory by pounding over a dozen villages from Noseeri to Nagdar in Neelum valley, Leepa and Khuairatta sectors of Kotli district.

“We have been stressing since long that after declaring occupied Kashmir as its colony, India had set to attack on Azad Kashmir as its next target,” he said adding that the international community including United Nations should take strict notice of this naked Indian aggression in which long range artillery guns have been used on the night between Saturday and Sunday.

Earlier addressing at reception organized by Pakistani Association of Bristol (PAB) and Bristol Kashmir Foundation (BKF) here in Bristol Community Hall on Saturday.

Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Altaf Ahmad Bhat said that since August till now people in  are almost in civil disobedience and in such an environment how India can claim that Kashmir is its integral part. “Schools and business centers are shut while telephone and internet is not working. What India wants to hide and this is the question that world must get answer from India, Bhat added.

On the occasion Chairman Public Accounts Committee AJK Abdur Rashid Turabi said that the people Kashmir are not ready to compromise on right of self-determination, he said now it is the duty of international community to come forward and help Kashmiris for getting their basic rights which have been snatched by Indian government since long.

President Tehreek-e-Kashmir TeK UK Raja Fahim Kayani said that the fire India ignited in IOJK&L while abrogating special status of Kashmir could not controlled by Modi saying world is now listening to Kashmiris and the day will come when whole Jammu and Kashmir will get freedom from Indian slavery.

The Mayor of Bristol Tom Aditiya , Councillor Tim Boss , Chairman PAB, Chairman BKF, Raja Skindar Khan and local councillors also spoke on the occasion and extended their support for the Kashmiris rights struggle.
