Masood Khan pays eulogizing tributes to martyrs of 1965 war

Says India would be held accountable for its atrocities in IOK

Muzaffarabad: The President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the 1965 war and to those who had been laying down their lives for the past five decades to defend the motherland.

Addressing an impressive ceremony held in Muzaffarabad to mark the Defense and Martyrs Day of Pakistan, President Masood Khan expressed full solidarity with the families of the martyrs and said that it is the collective responsibility of the entire nation to invest in the protection and future of these families.

Raja Farooq Haider, PM of AJK, Core Comdr. Lt. Gen. Nadeem Raza, GOC Murree, Azhar Abbas also attended the ceremony. Lt. Gen. Nadeem Raza, Core Cmdr. delivered a special address on the occasion. Students of AJK schools gave heart-rending performances on the occasion; and relatives and the next of kin of the Martyrs made speeches to recall the sacrifice of the Shuhada (martyrs).

Sardar Masood Khan said that in the past 52 years the armed forces of Pakistan have joined the ranks of strongest forces in the world. “Because of their strategic and conventional strength, as well as thorough professional grounding of armed personnel, the armed forces of Pakistan had become guarantors of Pakistan’s security”, he said.

The President of AJK said that in 1965, the nation and the armed forces of Pakistan had sent a clear message to India that they would not countenance any misadventure against Pakistan’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

The President said that the people of Azad Kashmir were proud that they liberated this part of Kashmir through a heroic war in 1947-48. Today, he said, thousands of soldiers from Azad Kashmir are part of Armed Forces of Pakistan and are defending Pakistan on all fronts. He thanked the armed forces of Pakistan for defending the Azad Kashmir territory by safeguarding the LOC round the clock. He also congratulated the armed forces in their recent successes in the operation of Rud ul Fasad and added that it was still a long haul.

Sardar Masood Khan said that India has launched a four-pronged war against Pakistan. First, he said Indian occupation forces have imposed a brutal war on the thirteen million people of Indian occupied Kashmir. Young men and women were being massacred; civilians of all ages have been blinded; trumped up charges have been leveled against Hurriyat leaders; women are being dishonored; and demography of occupied Kashmir was being altered to reduce the Muslim majority to a minority. “Secondly, India is targeting civilians in LOC, knowing full well that Pakistan would not retaliate against civilians. Third, India has started a systematic proxy war in Pakistan to destabilize its cities, regions and institutions. India is engineering, abetting and sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan”, he said adding that India was employing ignominious diplomatic maneuvers to defeat Pakistan on the diplomatic front.

The President said that despite all these challenges Pakistan would prevail and would emerge as a great nation in the comity of nations. In this context, he welcomed Pakistans’ Foreign Minister’s statement that Pakistan would energetically take up the Kashmir issue at international forums.

Addressing Indian Prime Minister Modi, the President said India would be held accountable for its atrocities in IOK “The door for diplomacy and negotiations was still open despite all the excesses. This opportunity must not be lost”, he said. He appealed to the international community to discard double standards and partiality and help Pakistan and people of Kashmir find a democratic and durable solution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

On this occasion, the President sent a special message to people of IOK saying that the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir salute their courage and sacrifices. He vowed that the pace of the freedom struggle would be accelerated to attain the goal of liberation of IOK.

AJK PM Raja Farooq Haider Khan paid rich tributes to the Martyrs of 1965 war and said that our brave Army and Nation proved steel wall for its enemy and give a historical defeat in the battle field by demonstrating great nation zeal and spirit.
