He said Saudi Arabia has always supported Pakistan at every critical time while Pakistan also stood by Saudi Arabia and its diaspora living in Saudi Arabia is also playing commendable role in the development process of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Replying volley of questions, Ashrafi said that Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman fully supported the Saudi-led intervention in Yemen and Operation Decisive Storm against the Yemeni rebels. He said Ulema have already issued a Fatwa against Houthi militia and Islamic State (IS) terrorists in the region. The Saudi leadership and its security institutions are a source of pride for the entire Ummah as they are protecting the holy land of Mecca and Medina.

He was of the opinion that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Arab world have been playing a responsible role for peace and stability in Yemen on call of legitimate government of Yemen. He said that ensuring peace and stability in Yemen, peace and stability would return to the Middle East. Unity of Muslim Ummah is panacea to resolve prevailing challenges of Muslim world.

Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), Allama Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, expressed serious reservations over conspiracies being hatched up against the unity of Muslim Ummah but hope that those nefarious designs would be exposed and tackled jointly. On the tragic death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Ashrafi said that security and investigation agencies of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia have already foiled conspiracies by the enemies who are out to use the case for their personal interests. “We fully support the Saudi-led Operation Decisive Storm against Houthi militia and Daesh terrorists in the region. Turkish government should stand with Saudi government as the entire world including Pakistan has full support to Saudi government for solving the case of Saudi Journalist Jamal Khashoggi,” he noted.

Sharing the details of upcoming conference of PUC, he said that 4th International Message of Islam Conference will be held on March 3, at Convention Center Islamabad, in which besides President Palestinian Shariah Court, over 5,000 leading Islamic scholars from Pakistan and all over the Muslim world will participate.

Commenting on the recent $6 billion economic package in which Saudi Arabia agreed to provide Pakistan $3 billion in foreign currency support for a year, as well as a $3 billion loan in deferred oil import payments. Asharfi said once again Saudi Arabia has proved that Riyadh is the real friend of Pakistan who always stood with Pakistan through thick and thin despite some elements that have been hatching conspiracies to create misunderstandings between two time-tasted friends.

Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) underlined that enemies of Islam and Muslims have been maneuvering to make anarchy and chaos in Islamic countries. The enemies aimed at disrupting peace situation and internal security of Muslim world. “Some hidden hands are out to target Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Pakistan has always remained on forefront to make peace and stability in Afghanistan but Pakistan never received such helpful hands from Afghan side,” Ashrafi added.
