Islamabad: Ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed al-Maliki called on Federal Minister for Defence, Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan and Secretary Defense Lt Gen (Retd) Zameer-ul-Hassan Shah at Ministry of Defence, here at Rawalpindi on Wednesday. Defence Minister engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan has emphasized the need for an all encompassing formal defense and strategic cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia to enhance defense ties between the two countries.
The Saudi Arabian ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki on the occasion expressed that Riyadh-Islamabad ties to be taken to new heights during his tenure. He said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy bilateral strategic relations in multidimensional areas such as defense, culture and people to people, which will be deepened further in the days to come. He said that he was under instructions from his leadership especially Khadim ul Haramain Al-Sharifain King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and crown prince Muhammad bin Salman to further strengthening of bilateral ties with Pakistan in order to raise it to new levels of cooperation.
Federal Minister stated that Pakistan attaches great importance to its special relations with KSA and desires to further diversify its cooperation. He also mentioned that development of CEPC is aimed at integrating the entire region; and will also benefit KSA and other brotherly countries in Middle East for trade and commerce with South Asia and China.
Federal Minister extended his good wishes for health and prosperity of the custodian of the Khadim ul Haramain Al-Sharifain King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and mentioned the historical and enduring brotherly relations based on mutual trust. Minister highlighted the human rights violation in Indian Kashmir by Indian forces.
Later, the visiting Saudi Ambassador held a formal meeting with Secretary Ministry of Defence Lt. Gen (Retd) Zameer-ul-Hassan Shah. During the meeting, matters related to mutual interest including whole spectrum of bilateral defence cooperation were discussed. Secretary Defence apprised the Ambassador about the efforts of Pakistani armed forces in countering menace of terrorism and on-going operation Radd-ul- fassad. The prevailing political and security situation in the region also came under discussion. Both the dignitaries agreed to work together in order to further strengthen the bilateral defence relations.
