Islamabad: Chairman Majlisi Namoyandagon of Tajikistan Mr. Zuhurov Shukurjon with his delegation met with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at PM House on Wednesday. Warmly welcoming the Mr. Zuhurov Shukurjon, the Prime Minister said Pakistan highly values and appreciate its relation with Tajikistan which is deeply rooted in history, religion and common culture. Prime Minister Addd. The Prime Minister noted with satisfaction that relations between the two countries are making progress in all areas including energy, trade and defence. Recalling President Rahmon’s visit to Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that both the countries need to make all efforts to bring bilateral trade to US $ 500 million.
During two days stay in Islamabad Tajik delegation included by Chairman Majlisi Namoyandagon of Tajikistan Mr. Zuhurov Shukurjon, Mr. Azizmuhammad Kholmuhammadzoda (MP), Mr. Jamshed Murtazoquiov (MP), Mrs. Nasiba Sodiqova (MP), Mr. Mirzoanvar Akhmedov (MP), and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Mr. Sherali S. Jononov met with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, President Mamnoon Hussain, chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq here in islamabad.
On the occasion Chairman Majlisi Namoyandagon of Tajikistan Mr. Zuhurov Shukurjon lauded Prime Minister’s vision of peaceful relations with neighbors and acknowledged Pakistan’s sincere and consistent efforts for promoting peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. The Chairman said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s stand is very clear and his policy and vision is commendable.
The Tajik delegation headed by Mr. Zuhurov Shukurjon also met with the President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Wednesday while talking with Tajik delegation President said that Pakistan is looking forward to the opening ceremony of the CASA-1000 project in May 2016 noting with appreciation that a committee has been formed to prepare preliminary report for additional 1000-1200 MW electricity from Tajikistan to Pakistan outside CASA-1000. The President stated that the CASA-1000 project will be a milestone in boosting bilateral relations between the two countries.
Chairman Majlisi Namoyandagon of Tajikistan Mr. Zuhurov Shukurjon thanked the President for the warm welcome and hospitality extended during their visit to Pakistan and hoped that bilateral ties would reach new heights through mutual cooperation. The Chairman Majlisi Namoyandagon expressed his country’s keen desire for linkages with China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and said that projects are already underway for rail and road connectivity with the CPEC. Mr. Zuhurov Shukurjon extended an invitation on behalf of the President of Tajikistan to President Mamnoon Hussain to visit Tajikistan at his earliest convenience
During meeting with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Mr Shukurjon Zuhurov congratulated the Speaker for enabling Pakistan’s Parliament as first in the world to go green. He added that Tajikistan is determined to foster robust ties with Pakistan through bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Endorsing Ayaz Sadiq’s emphasis on bilateral cooperation Mr. Zuhurov remarked that Tajikistan aspires to foster stronger inter-Parliamentary cooperation with Pakistan. He stressed on the need for facilitating people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges as part of Pakistan-Tajikistan friendship initiatives. Later on Mr. Zuhurov visited the Green Parliament Solar Power Project and signed the visitor’s book along with his comments.
