BAKO:A four member delegation of Pakistan Upper House led by its deputy chairman Senate Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali, met with President Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and exchanged views on matters of mutual interests. The delegation briefed the Azerbaijani president about the unanimously adopted a resolution in Pakistan senate condemning the Khojaly Genocide.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamma dyarov also met with the delegation and praised Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations and said that the two countries enjoyed mutual support in various fields quoted by local media.
After the meeting with high ups of Azerbaijan the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate of Pakistan Salim Saifullah Khan Brifed the media about the resolution,
“There are 12 political parties in the Senate of Pakistan and they unanimously adopted a resolution on the Khojaly genocide. The resolution passed unanimously by a committee is considered as a common resolution of the Senate in a parliamentary system of Pakistan.He further added,
“Our countries aren’t close from an economic point of view. We discuss these issues at meetings. Development of relations in the sphere of economy, culture and media.
Pakistan has a problem of Kashmir, Azerbaijan has a problem of Nagorno-Karabakh, Saifullaha Khan said.
“The UN adopted a resolution in support of freedom of the Kashmiri people. We have war with India for four times on Kashmir. But now, we believe that there is no more need for war. There are also UN resolutions with regard to Nagorno-Karabakh. Pakistan welcomes the resolution of this conflict by peaceful means, ” saifullaha Khan added.
