Peace in SA inescapably linked to Kashmir solution: PM AJK

Islamabad: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PM AJK) Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan has said that 5th January is the most important day in the history of Kashmir when United Nations passed a resolution for right of Self-determination for Kashmiri.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Prime Minister lamented on the silence of UN for almost 7 decades, saying that Kashmiri still seeking the attention of UN for implementation of their resolution passed since 5th January 1948, but until today Kashmiri still deprived of their just struggle of right to Self-determination.

He said that Kashmiri people right to self-determination have gone astray for the last 70 years and they are struggling to implement the UN resolutions. “Peace in South Asia is subjected to Kashmir solution, if this issue remained un-resolved, the peace of the region will be destroyed.” Prime Minister maintained.

“According to the United Nations resolutions, to establish peace in South Asia, the implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir issue is inevitable.” PM AJK added.

He reiterated that the UN should play a role in resolving Kashmir issue for the possibility of peace process. Kashmiri in Independent State will celebrate this day to remind UN to resolve their longest pending dispute.

Prime Minister directed all the government departments of the State to celebrate 5th January as Right to Self-determination day.

Prime Minister Azad Kashmir has also approved the formation of National Kashmir committee for the year 2018 to organize official functions within the state. The notification of establishment of National Kashmir Committee has also been issued.

In this regard, the committee approved by the Prime Minister for National events will be headed by Minister of State Mrs. Naureen Arif.

The committee comprises Minister for Education, Barrister Iftikhar Gilani, Members Legislative Assembly, Dr. Mustafa Bashir, Miss. Naseema Wani, Secretary Services, Secretary Education Schools, Secretary Kashmir Liberation Cell, Commissioner Muzaffarabad, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad and Director Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell.

The biggest ceremony will be held in the capital Muzaffarabad on January 5, 2018 organized under the aegis of Kashmir Liberation Cell followed by a rally and a memorandum will be presented in the UN Observer mission office.

On the same day rallies and protests will be held in all districts of Azad Kashmir besides organizing seminars in the Universities of the State.
