United Nations: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has demanded the world body to appoint a special representative for Kashmir in a meeting with United Nations (UN) Secretary general Antonio Guterress on Thursday and apprised the UN chief of Indian ceasefire violations across the Line of Control and Working Boundary, Radio Pakistan reported.
Prime Minister Abbasi also shared a dossier on human rights violations committed by Indian security forces in held Kashmir with Guterres.
The PM told the UN chief that India had closed the doors of dialogue with Pakistan. He also apprised him of the deaths of civilians in cross-border firing today.
At least six civilians have been killed and 20 others wounded in ‘unprovoked’ firing and shelling by Indian forces across the Working Boundary, according to the army’s media wing and local administration officials in Sialkot.
Guterres acknowledged Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts, Radio Pakistan reported.
