Lahore: All the religious schools of thought are committed to ensure implementation on ‘Code of Conduct’ for Muharam-ul-Haram to ensure religious harmony during the days of Muharam-ul-Haram and Ashura, said leading scholars and clerics of different religious organizations and sects at a press conference here on Sunday.
Addressing a Press Conference Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council said that religious organizations of the country are united and committed to ensure harmony during the days of Ashura in the country. He also underlined that people of Pakistan have categorical stance on the burning issues of Kashmir and Palestine adding that any solution for Palestine without seeking consent of Palestinian people will not be accepted.
On this occasion, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi was also flanked by leading Ulemas and religious scholars including Maulana Ziallah Shah Bukhari, Muhammad Khan Leghari, Maulana Ghulam Akbar Saqi, Maulana Ayub Safdar, Maulana Asadullah Farooq, Maulana Aseed-ur-Rehman Saeed, Mufti Abdul kareem Khan, Mufti Muhammad Shafi Qasmi, Maulana Ashfaq Patafi, Allama Tahirul Hassan, Maulana Zubair Zahid, Maulana Zubair Khatana, Maulana Hassan Ahmed Husseini, Qari Abdul Hakeem Athar, Hafiz Abdul Raoof Farooqi, Qari Mubashar Raheemi and Maulana Islamud Din.
The clerics underlined that in accordance of ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan Draft’ a code of conduct has been devised with consent of leading Ulemas and Religious Scholars of different sects to ensure harmony during the days of Muharam-ul-Haram. The clerics also stated that reservations on ‘Tahafuz-e-Bunyad-e-Islam Bill’ should be addressed with dialogue and talks.
The clerics said that religious scholars and leadership of all religious organizations and sects have announced unanimously to dissociate from extremist and terrorists elements adding that strict action has been proposed against elements fanning sectarian propaganda on the eve of Muharram-ul-Haram.
Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi speaking on this occasion said that in aegis of Muthahida Ulema Board Punjab, a Coordination Committee has also been devised with participation of leading Ulemas to ensure harmony in the country during the days of Ashura. The committee includes following clerics including Allama Hussein Akbar, Maulana Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Maulana Ziaul Haq Naqshbandi, Maulana Abdul Wahab Ropri, Allama Abdul Haq Mujahid, Maulana Muhammad Afzal Haidri and Maulana Aseedur Rehman Saeed.
He also proposed that Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) should be made more effective adding that Pakistan is among founding members of OIC adding that formation of any other parallel forum or organization against OIC is not possible.
Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi also announced that after Muharam-ul-Haram and Ashura, ‘Unity of Ummah Conferences’ will be held all over Pakistan in aegis of Pakistan Ulema Council to highlight prevailing issues of Muslim Ummah and to devise mechanism to address the challenges of Kashmir, Palestine and Muslim Ummah.
Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi also stated that from 1st September to 10th September, ‘Ashra-e-Tahafuz-e-Khatam-e-Nabowat’ will be observed all over the country. Responding to a query, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said that enemies of Pakistan aimed at targeting Pakistan to isolate Pakistan from rest of Muslim world. Replying to another query, Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi also stated that Five-Million Pakistanis are residing in Saudi Arabia for pursuit of the well being of their families back in Pakistan and remittances from these expatriate Pakistanis is major contribution for economic stability of Pakistan.
Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said that these expatriate Pakistanis are proud for Pakistan and we will not want to make any trouble and mess for these Pakistanis abroad. Following the Press Conference, a joint resolution was also presented with ‘Code of Conduct’ to ensure religious harmony during the days of Muharam-ul-Haram.
Code of Conduct for Muharm-ul-Haram
1- There is no space for terrorism; extremism and sectarian violence at the name of Islam in the country and leadership of all religious sects should announce to disassociate themselves from all elements accomplice in the menaces of sectarian violence, terrorism and extremism.
2- Any scholar, orator or cleric in their public sermons will not use sacrilegious remarks for prophets, Ahl-e-Bait and respected wives of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H), caliphs, Imams and about Imam Mehdi and any religious sect will not support or endorse any blasphemer.
3- Any Islamic sect should not be declare ‘infidel’ and any Muslim or non-Muslim should not be declare ‘worthy of killing’ and people of Pakistan and believers of all religious sects will live their lives as per rights of Constitution of Pakistan.
4- There should be complete ban on publication of violent and hateful religious content, hate-speeches, outrageous literature, books based on hateful content, CDs, websites carrying seditious content must be checked. Similarly there should be complete ban on outrageous religious slogans and no sacrilegious remarks will be made about Imams, Mujtahids and Islamic Jurisprudents.
5- Joint religious congregations will be held to demonstrate solidarity within all religious sects.
6- It is responsibility of the government to ensure protection to the sacred places and worship places of the minorities living in Pakistan; therefore government of Pakistan should handle strictly all the elements accomplice in posing threats to the minorities and worship places of the minorities and their properties in the country.
7- Government of Pakistan should ensure implementation on ‘National Action Plan’ without any distinction.
8- ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan’ is an unanimously approved draft and to ensure legislation on this draft, consultation process should be initiated on priority.
9- Decree (Fatwa) holds very importance in Islamic Shariah; therefore, decree in accordance of the teachings of Quran-o-Sunnah will be approved and strict action should be taken on decrees issued contrary to the teachings of Quran-o-Sunnah.
