Islamabad: A high-level academic delegation from Qatar, consisting of two high-profile academics with ingress in American and Middle Eastern think tanks, received detailed briefing on Kashmir conflict at YFK–International Kashmir Lobby Group offices in the Pakistani capital.
Executive Director YFK, Mr. Ahmed Quraishi, gave a detailed briefing to Dr. Ibrahim Fraihat and Dr. Marwan J. Kabalan on the YFK activism and Kashmir conflict, the humanitarian situation, and efforts to resolve the conflict according to UN Security Council resolutions. The two distinguished academics represented Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar. Dr. Fraihat has been associated with Brookings Institution, and Dr. Kabalan has worked with the Qatar-America Institute.
“In Pakistan, we do not want a war with India, and do not see Kashmir as a vehicle to promote hostilities. On the contrary, Pakistan and Kashmiris want peace with India and see a great future ahead for the region once Kashmir conflict is resolved according to UN resolutions,” said Mr. Quraishi.
The two guests said they were impressed by YFK’s message of working for conflict resolution. The rights of Kashmiri people should have a priority, Dr. Fraihat said.
