Muzaffarabad: The newly elected President of Pakistan controlled Kashmir Masood Khan has called upon the Indian government to stop undue violence and atrocities on the innocent Kashmiris in Held Kashmir. He was talking to media in Muzaffarabad during a dinner hosted by Jamat-i-Islami Azad Kashmir at local hotel on Thursday after taking oath as president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
AJK President Masood Khan said the forth-coming generations of Kashmiris would never forgive India for the treatment it has meted out to the people of valley. He said resolution of Kashmir dispute, good governance and development was our agenda. He commended that the government and people of Pakistan had always extended their full moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris.
According to details the Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Muhammad Azam Khan administered the oath at AJK Legislative Assembly. AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, former AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Federal Minster for KashmirAffairs & GilgatBaltistan Chaudhry Barjees Tahir, Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir, AJK Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, high-ranking civil and military officials and a large of notables attended the ceremony.
Rawalakot born Masood Khan is a seasoned diplomat and analysts expect that with holding the premier post the Kashmir movement will gather momentum as the newly elected President has excellent record as an ardent campaigner for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions. Over the years, Masood Khan had worked hard in the United Nations and various capitals to build support for the realization of the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Many believe that his eight years tenure in china to build Pak-China relations was among the key reason to appoint as a candidate for AJK president by PML (N) Government of Mian Nawaz Sharif. President Xi Jinping conferred on him highest Chinese award for promoting Pakistan-China friendship.
