Islamabad: Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Dr Abdul Aziz Al-Ghadeer, arranged a reception at the Embassy Compound Tuesday evening to celebrate 82nd anniversary of the founding of the Kingdom.
The prime minister was the chief guest at the 82nd National Day celebrations of Saudi Kingdom where Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, former prime minister Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) secretary general Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, governor Khayber-PK Barrister Masood Kausar, leader of the house in Senate Jehnagir Badar, leader of the opposition in the Senate Ishaq Dar, former chief of Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Qazi Hussain Ahmad, JI secretary general Liquat Baloch, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) chairman Senator Raja Muhammad Zafar-ul-Haq, secretary general Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, JUI leaders Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman and Hafiz Hussain Ahmad, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Jamiat Ahle-Hadi leader Senator professor Sajid Mir, former ISI chief General (R) Hamid Gul, Awami Muslim League president Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, federal ministers Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Mian Manzoor Wattoo, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Abbas Khan Afridi, Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour and parliamentary secretary for Foreign Affairs Ms Pilwasha Khan were prominent.
Expressing his utmost satisfaction with the ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has vowed that the two brotherly countries are source of strength for each other and their relationship would grow from strength to strength in future.
Talking to the Arab media here at the Saudi Arabian Embassy on Tuesday evening, he paid rich tributes to the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and said that the Saudi king has been generously serving the humanity, and the Muslims across the world are proud of him.
In an exclusive chat with this scribe, Ambassador Ghadeer said Saudi Arabia and Pakistan enjoy brotherly relations flourishing in all fields. He was glad that the inter-ministerial commission of the two countries was meeting in Islamabad on this special occasion. The commission, he said, would discuss bilateral cooperation in commerce and industry. People of Saudi Arabia are celebrating the National Day in the Kingdom and other parts of the world. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates today its 80th Anniversary of the founding of the Kingdom by Abdul-Aziz bin Saud in 1932. It is the world’s leading exporter of oil, which accounts for 90% of its export earnings and 75% of govt revenues. The country has the world’s largest oil reserves.
