Turkey’s stand on Kashmir is well-known to the world, Mr. Volkan Bozkir

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed that the United Nations must play its rightful role in addressing the grave situation in Occupied Kashmir and ensuring that Kashmiris exercise their right to self-determination, promised to them in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

He was talking to President-elect of the 75th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir, who called on him here on Monday.

The Prime Minister extended warm felicitations to Mr Bozkir on his election as the President of the historic 75th Session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, he apprised the PGA-elect of the serious situation in the IIOJK, an issue that was on the agenda of the UN Security Council for over seven decades.

President-elect of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Volkan Bozkir  expressed his strong support for the longstanding dispute of Jammu and Kashmir, linking it with peace and stability of the South Asian region on Monday.

“Turkey’s stand on Kashmir is well-known to the world. It has been explained time and again,” the visiting UNGA dignitary said at a joint press stakeout with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi here at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Apart from the UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir, he observed, there is the 1972 Simla Agreement between Islamabad and New Delhi which called for resolving the dispute through political and diplomatic channels and in line with the will of Kashmiris, state-run Pakistan Television reported.
