Islamabad: A visiting United States (US) Congressional delegation led by Senator John McCain was taken on a tour of the South Waziristan by Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday, radio Pakistan reported.
According to the ISPR statement issued here the five-member delegation, which includes Senators Lindsey Graham, Sheldon
Whitehouse, Elizabeth Warren and David Perdue ─ all members of the influential Senate Armed Services Committee which has legislative oversight of US military affairs was briefed on Zarb e Azab and Rad ul fasad operations and the Pak –Afghan relations.
The delegations was apprised on the recent measures taken for the improvement of the Pak-Afghan border fencing and enhanced surveillance NS socio-economic development efforts in the Agency.
The visiting delegation has already met Gen Bajwa on Sunday who called US cooperation a “key factor” in security and the delegation had expressed a desire to visit the LoC.
Later it was postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions.
