Zargar family alleges harassment, appeals for help

Srinagar: Family of Al-Umar Mujahideen Chief, Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar has  appealed the international community and human rights bodies to raise voice against their “persecution”.

Lamenting at the brutal behavior of the Indian agencies, one of the  family members said, “We have been the worst sufferers, as our family was targeted for no fault of ours for last two dacades. We lost our near and dear ones who couldn’t stand this brutal behavior.

The family claims that “frequent raids and detentions” have affected their livelihood and pushed them into a financial crisis. Fayaz and Zahoor, Zargar’s brothers were subjected to “extreme torture” by police and are persecuted day in and day out.

“The authorities crossed all limits as they even caged and detained our youngsters including nephew and niece,” another member said.

Dawood the nephew of Zargar, presently lodged in the Central Jail Srinagar was,  arrested on fabricated charges.  “My son was never involved in stone pelting or other activities. Yet, he has been arrested”, Fayaz said.

Zargar family demanded the early release of Adil Siraj Zargar, another nephew of Zargar loged  in police custody.
